Projects
From 2002, the Symphony Orchestra Classica has been regularly leading a summer festival of classical music in the city of Sochi ‘Seasons of Petersburg’. The aim of the festival is to revive and develop the tradition of summer seasons which took place over several decades from the 1950’s to the 1970’s, when Sochi became the base of some of the best of our classical interpreters: the conductors E. Mravinsky and K. Zanderling, the pianists S. Richter and E. Gilels, the violinists D. Oistrach and K. Kogan. After a long absence this tradition has been vibrantly revived by the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra Classica and its director, Russian Artist of National Distinction A. Kantorov.
The programme of the festival includes concerts from the classics of national and foreign compositions lead in concert halls and in the open squares of the city. “Seasons of St. Petersburg” remains one of the main events in the world of classical music as it thrives in Sochi’s summer season. The festival’s concerts have maintained their unwavering popularity among both visitors and permanent residents of the city.
